In October 2011 the Alberta Water Council approved a new operational planning process. The overall intent is to better align Council work with Government of Alberta priorities for Water for Life implementation. The new process will establish a consistent approach in operational planning and project selection for the Council. The Operational Planning Process document below outlines the steps the Council follows, which will culminate in a workshop prior to its March Board meeting to select new work for the coming year. A key component of this process is the submission of a Statement of Opportunity. The Bringing Forward an Issue to the AWC document below provides guidance on preparing a Statement of Opportunity. Any individual or organization considering preparing a Statement of Opportunity should review the two documents below and then contact the Council's Executive Director to discuss the process in more detail.
